What makes a class meaningful is not just the subject knowledge but the experience. In all the classes that I have taught, I tried to get to know my students and adjust the course content to be relevant to their goals and life experiences. My interactive teaching style has received positive feedback from my students. Here are how students have described me:
- Sam was very considerate of our different learning backgrounds and adjusted his explanations accordingly. He made sure everyone could follow and feel included.
- Sam always provided constructive and timely feedback, which helped me understand my strengths and where I could improve. His comments were clear and encouraging.
- During the remaining time of each class, he will be by the side of every student to answer our questions
Currently at the University of Sydney, I am teaching courses on social media communication (MA level) and digital cultures (undergraduate level). At the Chinese University of Hong Kong, I taught courses on communication theories (undergraduate level) and research methods (MA level). I also taught a special topic on online dating and hookup culture (undergraduate level), a popular course among undergraduate students.
